'The Sturry Road Community Garden Project in Canterbury has been delighted by the excellent quality of work carried out by Webbs Garden volunteers in our garden. It is obvious they all have a great love of gardening and are very knowledgeable as well. We are also grateful for all their help in getting the garden ready for its open day.'
Allison Wainman, OBE. KENT GARDENS TRUST.

Webbs Garden

Webbs Garden is a Victorian walled garden that forms part of our employability program through work and training projects based within the gardens or in the wider community. We offer NVQ 1 qualifications in Horticulture and track your progress on a training and development portfolio which will form an essential part of your CV.

There are a number of other organisations about to join us at Webbs which will open up exciting new opportunities in 2010 for a wider range of people.

Training

Qualification Credit Frameworks at varying levels, and short horticultural or woodwork training sessions are available through Chaucer Homecare Ltd or other providers.

Gardening & Estates Maintenance Project (GEM)

This project, working in conjunction with Webb’s Garden, delivers real work (goods and services) to local community businesses and projects.
Work experience is an important first step for work preparation and provides a positive work history for your C.V.
It also demonstrates a healthy attitude as well as a capability and willingness that are attractive to potential employers.

Parkminster Project

We are currently engaged upon a yearlong project on with Minster Abbey, landscaping an area of ground for their hospitality and respite projects. The purpose of this new garden area is to provide a quiet place for contemplation and reflection during visits to the Abbey. It will be a low maintenance, organic garden that will encourage native species of wildlife.

Through work-readiness projects like these our aim is to help you move on to other opportunities, for example volunteering, further training or paid employment.
